Forte, O-Line Need To Dominate Against Cleveland

Matt ForteBears fans are struggling for answers after the debacle against the Bengals.  The Bears could do nothing right and everyone's head is on the chopping block in the eyes anyone who roots for the Bears.  Most everyone would have preferred to see the coaching staff handed their walking papers on the Monday after the loss.

Although that scenario would please the fan base, the logical next step is for the Bears to step up and dominate their next opponent.  Perhaps that won't completely temper the anger in the Windy City but there are aspects of the game that the Bears should dominate in as a sign of taking a step in the right direction.

The first thing we need to see in this game is an awakening of the rushing attack led by Matt Forte.  This should be Forte's biggest game of the season a game he should at a minimum rush for 140-plus yards and a couple of touchdowns.  A statement game that should say the Bengals game was a bit of a fluke an off game and we're back on track with this effort against the Browns.

Chicago Bears offensive lineWhy am I adamant about the Bears dominating the Browns and pounding the ball mercilessly down their throats?  Simple, the Browns are 31st in the NFL in rushing defense giving up an average of 171-yards per game on the ground.  Twice the Browns have allowed over 200-yards rushing in a game on the season.  The least amount of yards the Browns have allowed is 140-yards to the Pittsburgh Steelers who rank 17th in the league with their rushing attack.

Honestly it doesn't come any simpler than this for the Bears the rest of the season, a game they should rack up huge rushing numbers and coast to an easy victory.

The offensive line to this point in the season has struggled mightily to establish any sort of consistency in run blocking.  The Bears are no longer a team that gets off the bus running as the people try to describe the offense as.  Part of the reason is Jay Cutler gives the Bears the ability to spread and stretch the field via the passing game.  The other aspect is the Bears have only one game in which they've gone over 100-yards rushing.

In this game the offensive line should truly set the tempo much the same way the Bengals set the tempo against the Bears.  Frank Omiyale Roberto Garza and Olin Kreutz should provide massive holes for Forte to run through.  Eight man fronts shouldn't be a problem, just line it up and play smash mouth football.  Help the O-Line to finally get it's confidence and move forward with nothing but solid performances from here on out.
